DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'
DENISE CASH BENEFIT

Friday, February 15, 2008
115 Bourbon St

3359 W 115th St
Merrionette Park, IL
7 pm to 12 am

On August 20, 2007, our friend Denise was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Denise is a single mom to 10 year old Max. She has single handedly raised max from the day he was born, with the help of her family, specifically her mom and dad. Papa watched Max while Denise worked. Max loved being with Papa until he passed away from lung cancer in 2005. This was a very sad day for Max. Now his mother, the light of his life, has been diagnosed with cancer. There is a light at the end of every tunnel, and the light here is that Denise’s cancer is 90% curable, but not before she endures a very tough battle. Denise has to undergo 6 – 8 months of chemotherapy which she unselfishly scheduled for every other Friday so that she would not have to miss work. The two days after the treatments are not good days for her, but she knows she is the breadwinner of her family and she must go on.

The week that Denise was diagnosed with Hodgkins, she also started construction to expand her 900 square foot home. Little did she know that three days after construction commenced, that she would get the dreadful diagnosis of cancer. She really wanted to expand the home and had worked hard to get a loan to pay for the first phase of construction. The home was very cramped now that Max was getting older and his friends are always over at his house. It seemed the logical thing to do.

August 20, 2007, Denise found herself talking about things that she never expected to say - - - she had cancer! She needed to stop the work on her home and concentrate on getting well. Needless to say unexpected medical costs are being incurred and the home improvement had to stop. Denise could no longer afford the home improvement. The home improvement is now no longer an option but a necessity. During the pre-work survey the contractor found that the home had defective roof joists, sagging floor joists, evidence of a previous fire from a previous home owner causing the roof boards to turn to dust and the house was infested with termites. The contractor’s professional opinion is that the only way to make the home safe for Denise, Max and Lola is to completely demolish it and rebuild. Denise, Max and Lola have had to move out of their home in addition to coping with the side effects of chemotherapy.

On Friday, February 15, 2008, the Don’t Stop Believing Benefit Committee will be hosting a Benefit Party at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 West 115th Street, Merrionette Park, IL from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The Benefit will feature the 80’s tribute band Cherry Pie, and will include food, in-house raffles, and a Silent Auction. Proceeds from this event will help aid Denise and Max. Our goal is to raise enough money to finish Denise’s home and make it safe and healthy for Denise, Max and Lola in addition to covering the mounting costs associated with getting rid of the cancer. We hope to have Denise cancer and debt free so that she and Max can continue to lead a happy and healthy life.

The planning for this benefit is well under way and we are seeking donations from businesses to aid us in our efforts. We hope that your organization will join us in our efforts by donating an item for the silent auction. All donations will be recognized the night of the benefit. For your records, the tax identification number for the Don’t Stop Believin Benefit is
#68--0660682. Please send your donations to:
